Meet our director!
Stephanie Kopesky
is an American choir director and mezzo-soprano born and raised in Houston, Texas. She has four years of experience teaching middle school and high school choirs in Cy-Fair ISD, where she fostered musical growth, confidence, and a strong sense of community among her students.
Alongside her teaching career, Stephanie has been an active performer in the Houston choral scene, singing with several distinguished ensembles including the Houston Symphony Chorus, Mercury Chamber Choir, Casulana Women’s Chorus, and Suono. Her performance and directing experience spans a wide range of repertoire, from Baroque works to contemporary choral music.
Stephanie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Choral Music Education from the University of Houston, where she studied conducting under Dr. Betsy Cook Weber and voice with Hector Vasquez. During her time at the university, she sang with multiple student-led ensembles, the award-winning Concert Chorale, and toured nationally, including performances in Washington, D.C.
In May 2025, after much reflection, Stephanie and her husband relocated to Lausanne, Switzerland, motivated by a shared desire to explore, travel, and build community abroad. She is a fluent English speaker and is currently learning French. Eager to immerse herself in her new musical environment, Stephanie joined Lausanne’s Vivace Choir in August 2025 and soon after began directing the La Chat Community Choir in October 2025.
Stephanie’s passion lies in creating welcoming musical spaces where people feel safe to explore their craft and find meaningful community through music-making. Her goal is to spread joy, connection, and confidence through choral singing wherever she calls home.
